We are seeking a part-time Payroll Intern to join our Finance team at our Centennial, CO headquarters for the Summer of 2025. This fully in-office Tuesday-Thursday internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while supporting the Payroll team in various tasks and projects.

Responsibilities

As a Payroll Administrator Intern at FAST, you will: 

  • Assist in Payroll Preparation and Management: 
  • Support the team in preparing, documenting, and reconciling payroll processes for employees across multiple jurisdictions. 
  • Help ensure payroll compliance with wage laws, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions. 
  • Contribute to Auditing and Compliance Efforts: 
  • Assist in conducting payroll audits to maintain accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulations. 
  • Research payroll legislation and labor laws under team guidance. 
  • Support Reporting and Analysis Tasks: 
  • Help generate payroll reports for internal use and external stakeholders. 
  • Work with the Finance and HR teams to reconcile payroll data with financial records. 
  • Perform Data Entry and Maintenance: 
  • Accurately input and update payroll data, including employee details, time records, and deductions, into payroll systems. 
  • Review and verify data entries to ensure completeness and compliance with payroll policies. 
  • Provide Employee Support and Communication: 
  • Assist in responding to payroll-related inquiries and providing accurate information to employees. 
  • Help educate employees on payroll policies and self-service tools. 
  • Participate in Process Improvement Initiatives: 
  • Collaborate with the team to document payroll procedures. 
  • Offer input on process enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy. 
  • Learn and Collaborate on Special Projects: 
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including HR, IT, and Finance, to support ongoing initiatives and system implementations. 
  • Contribute to special projects as needed. 

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field. 
  • Interest in payroll operations and eagerness to learn about payroll systems and compliance. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (PivotTables and VLOOKUP knowledge is a plus). 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members. 
  • Ability to handle sensitive payroll data with confidentiality and integrity. 
  • A proactive attitude, with a willingness to learn and contribute to team goals.
